Online Advanced Actors Workshop is back for Term 4.  Due to the current circumstances, Brave Studios is adapting to help students continue to learn the craft of Acting outside of the classroom.

All classes will be conducted via Zoom. Zoom is an easy web-based video conferencing tool and a mobile app that allows users to meet online with LIVE video. We will, therefore, be able to offer our usual classes in an easy-to-use online format.

Our Teachers have been fully trained in this new platform to ensure Brave Studios continue to deliver premium courses. Our online Advanced Actors Workshop scene study course has been adapted to enhance the teachings for Online acting training

IMPORTANT: In the event restrictions are lifted from the 26th October onwards and we are able to continue with face to face learning – we will definitely return to the classroom.

Brave Studios’ Advanced Actors Workshop provides advanced acting classes for professional actors and advanced-level graduates. These Advanced Acting classes run weekly, challenging acting students to keep skills active and fresh.

Students will be working with many diverse, demanding and challenging scenes. Your Acting coach will direct and challenge you to find your truth in the scene, get rid of any obstacles in the way and make sure you are always fighting for what you want.

This is an advanced acting course for the more experienced actor wanting to meet with his/her blocks and/or limitations, get out of their comfort zone and who are determined to overcome and gain a deeper knowledge into themselves and their craft. By participating in the Advanced Actors Workshop, actors are given the platform and skills to let go and trust themselves to dive even further into their truth.

We are proud to have Damian Walshe-Howling teaching Term 4 2020. Damian brings with him a wealth of knowledge in both acting and directing major Australian shows such as Underbelly & Janet King.

In the final week, you will have the chance to test your skills  with one of Australia’s top Casting Directors and receive constructive feedback in a mock audition environment.

Previous casting directors have been Lou Mitchell from Maura Fay Casting, Rosie Traynor from Chameleon Casting and Jane Norris from Jane Norris Casting. This is an exciting opportunity for you to gain straight feedback on your auditions, and feel more comfortable in the room to nail your next casting!

If you are an actor needing to be challenged further to move forward in your work, this is the perfect acting course for you.
This course is designed as an actors workout that actors can re-visit again and again to keep skills fresh and the actor challenged. 

Course will cover:

  • An introduction into Practical Aesthetics
  • Challenging scene-work
  • Performing your scene every week
  • Small class sizes to ensure the get the attention you deserve- max 14
  • To find your truth and strength as an actor
  • Strengthening your connection with other actors.
  • Work through your personal blocks to get to the truth of a scene
  • Clear bad habits
  • Connect to the truth of the scene, and finding the character within yourself.
  • Find the right beats and actions within a scene to determine what you want the other character to do, think, or feel in that moment and try to affect a change in the other person.
  • Final week online screen test with one of Australia’s leading Casting Directors.

Strong Command of the English language

Students will be dealing with difficult concepts that require an advanced level of English language comprehension. Therefore, it is imperative that all students have a strong command of English. Please feel free to discuss this with one of our staff at Brave Studios should you need clarification.

Applications & Pre-requisites

*Applicants must complete one or more of the following pre-requisites

  • Acting training equivalent to Brave Studios Advanced Actors Course
  • Successful audition at Brave Studios with one of the Acting School Directors.
  • Working professionally within the Film and TV industry

Strong command of the English Language

Students will be dealing with difficult concepts that require an advanced level of English language comprehension. Therefore, it is imperative that all students have a strong command of English as there will be constant reading and learning of text. Please feel free to discuss this with one of our staff at Brave Studios should you need clarification.

  • Payment Options

    *We do not take payment through the website. Payment can either be made over the phone via credit card, or via direct deposit. The account details will be sent to you in an invoice once you enrol.
    *If paying a deposit, please note that the balance for the course is due 2 weeks prior to course commencement. Your deposit must be received before your place can be confirmed
    *STUDENT LOYALTY DISCOUNT - If you have completed 3 or more 8 week courses with Brave Studios you may be eligible for an ongoing 10% discount. This only applies to Beginner and Actors Workshop 8 week courses commenced from 2013 onwards.

  • CONDITIONS OF ENROLMENT

    BALANCE: Any outstanding balance must be paid 2 weeks prior to the course start date.  
    REFUND POLICY: Notification of cancellation must be given at least 14 days prior to class commencement for course fees or deposit to be refunded. If you have enrolled but do not notify us of cancellation 14 days prior to the commencement of the course, your deposit and/or any fees paid will be retained by Brave Studios. No refunds will be given for cancellations made after course commencement or during the run of the course. Brave Studios reserves the right to cancel any class in which case fees will be refunded in full.
    12 MONTH PROGRAMS- All payments must be made on the agreed date specified on the Invoice. Should you withdraw from the course after the commencement date, any fees paid will be retained, no refund will be applied and you are obliged to pay the balance of all fees owing. 
    Payments for the 3 hour introductory workshop and 1 day auditioning workshops are non-refundable.  
    TRANSFER POLICY: If a student has paid a deposit and wishes to transfer into another course as opposed to receiving a refund, the transfer should take place within 12 months of the initial course start date, given that at least 14 days notice has been received. It is the students responsibility to inform us of their availability for new course dates. The student will also be subject to any course fee increases made during that time.
    VIDEO POLICY: All class footage filmed and photographed at Brave Studios remains the property of Brave Studios and must not be used for any purpose unless permission is sought and granted by Brave Studios Directors.
