Brave Studios is proud to present a 4-week intensive acting workshop with acclaimed Actor and Director Damian Walshe-Howling, designed for professional to advanced-level actors who want to elevate their self-tape auditions and stand out in a competitive industry.

This workshop is for actors ready to move beyond playing it safe.

Too often, actors arrive at auditions doing exactly what’s on the page — competent, truthful, but predictable. Casting rooms are not looking for predictability. They are drawn to performances rooted in truth with courage, specificity, and a unique point of view. This course is about helping you trust your instincts, let go of overthinking, and make braver, more compelling choices on camera.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Across four weeks, students will work on a new mock audition scene each week, simulating real-world self-tape conditions. Actors will be encouraged to release control, stay present, and respond instinctually in the moment — allowing performances to feel alive, surprising, and authentic.

Each class will include:

• Performance and playback of self-tape audition scenes
• Group viewing and discussion
• Detailed feedback from Damian
• Guidance on deepening choices while remaining truthful and grounded
• Encouragement to take risks and explore individuality in performance

The focus is not on being right — but on being interesting, honest, and brave.

ABOUT DAMIAN WALSHE-HOWLING

Damian Walshe-Howling is a highly respected actor and director with extensive experience across film, television, and theatre. His dual perspective allows him to guide actors toward performances that are not only truthful, but compelling and watchable — performances that cut through.

This course is about bravery. Bravery in choice. Bravery in truth. Bravery in trusting that your version of the scene is enough.

Places are limited to ensure focused, detailed feedback for each actor.

Strong command of the English Language

Students will be dealing with difficult concepts that require an advanced level of English language comprehension. Therefore, it is imperative that all students have a strong command of English as there will be constant reading and learning of text.
