Jacquelyn Landgraf
Jacquelyn Landgraf is an actor, writer, director, and theater educator based in Brooklyn.
Jacquelyn is the creator, writer, co-director, and the voice of Deirdre Gardner on the serial fiction podcast It Makes A Sound, produced by Night Vale Presents. The show was named one of Vulture’s “Most Anticipated Podcasts of 2017,” and just completed its first season.
Theater performance highlights include the American premiere of ANNA NICOLE the Opera, directed by Richard Jones (BAM/New York City Opera), the premiere of John Guare’s 3 Kinds of Exile, featuring John Guare and directed by Neil Pepe at the Atlantic Theater; Susan Marshall and Company’s Sawdust Palace at the 92ndSt. Y; and The Caucasian Chalk Circle, directed by Anya Saffir at Theater for the New City. She has performed in New York City at Symphony Space, The Public Theater, Barrow St. Theater, The Bell House, and The Bowery Poetry Club; at Arena Stage and Woolly Mammoth in Washington D.C., The O’Neill Center in Connecticut, Chicago’s Neo-Futurarium, Le Petit Theater in New Orleans, and the Samuel Beckett Theater in Dublin, Ireland. She was the 2012 Theater Artist-in-Residence at the Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn, during which she directed and performed in the first English-language production of Blue-s-cat by the Ivorian playwright Koffi Kwahulé.
From 2005-2011, Jacquelyn was an ensemble member and co-artistic director of the New York Neo-Futurists, the prolific avant-garde theater collective and performer/writers of the ongoing signature show Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind, and winners of The Caffe Cino Award and multiple New York Innovative Theater Awards. With the company, she co-created and performed The Complete and Condensed Stage Directions of Eugene O’Neill, Vol. 1: Early Plays/Lost Plays, which was nominated for a 2012 Drama Desk Award for “Unique Theatrical Experience.”
Jacquelyn was the pre-production directing consultant to Elizabeth Wood for her feature film, White Girl, which premiered at Sundance in 2016 and is distributed by Netflix.
Her short plays and writings are published in the books 225 Plays by the New York Neo-Futurists; What It Means to Be A Grown-Up: the Complete and Definitive Answer; and the anthology LOOSE LIPS.
Jacquelyn has been on the acting faculty at the Atlantic Acting School since 2006, where she is a Master Teacher of Practical Aesthetics. She teaches Script Analysis to the NYU/Tisch Drama undergraduates, and she created and led the implementation of Moment Lab, now a core studio class across all programs. Jacquelyn has taught performance and writing workshops for The Williamstown Theater Festival, The New York Neo-Futurists, the U.S. State Department, London Central Film School, Brave Studios (in Melbourne, Australia), Hollins University M.F.A. Dance (in Berlin, Germany), Brooklyn College, Boston University, Improv Olympic Los Angeles, and the Susan Marshall Dance Company.
Jacquelyn is a member of Actor’s Equity, and holds a B.F.A. in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
